Jayalalitha requests party men to refrain from grand celebrations on her birthday [Monday, February 15, 2010]
Complaining that the economic situation of Tamil Nadu was 'on the path of destruction', AIADMK General Secretary Jayalalitha requested her party men to refrain from all forms of grand celebrations during her birthday. She said that the money wasted on the celebrations can be fruitfully used to help the poor. In a statement made at her party office, she said that the power cuts, law and order failure, price rise and other issues have affected the people of the state badly. “At a time when the State is on the path of destruction in many departments, I urge partymen not to engage in any grandeur or festivities to celebrate my birthday. They should rather involve themselves in useful things like providing medical services or feeding the poor,”, said Ms Jayalalitha. She also expressed hope that the golden days of AIADMK rule will return after a year when the state would go for its assembly elections.
