MDMK cadres numbering to almost 1800 observed a one day fast against the proposed move by the Kerala government to construct a dam across pamba. The fast was led by MDMK chief Vaiko. Some of the AIADMK cadres also joined the fast. Speaking at the protest, Vaiko said that the dam would deprive water for cultivation in 20,000 hectares of land in Tamil Nadu. He also warned that the party would block all the roads from tamil nadu to kerala if the state planned to move ahead with the decision. He also alleged that the state and the central governments are not expressing concern over the issue.
