Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated the world's first green legislature Assembly Secretariat Complex in Omanthoorar Government Estate in Chennai which would house the Tamil Nadu legislature. The event was marked by the presence of distinguished guests like Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Madras High Court Chief Justice H L Gokhale, Assembly speaker R Avudaiappan, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi etc The Prime Minister in his address appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and said that Tamil Nadu has grown out to be a role model for the country. “It has attained new heights in rural development and agrarian transformation. Tamil Nadu is the hub of India's dynamic automobile industry.”
