DMK wins the Pennagaram by polls  [Tuesday, March 30, 2010]
   
 

                        

                       The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate P N P Inbasekharan won the Pennagaram by polls with a margin of 36,384 votes. The PMK candidate finished second. The elections to the constituency took place on saturday and the results were declared on tuesday morning. The remaining 29 contestants including AIADMK and Desiya Murupokku Dravida Kazhagam lost their deposit. The AIADMK candidate won 26,787 votes and K.G. Kaverivarman of the DMDK 11,406 votes. The counting of the votes was held in Dharmapuri college amidst tight security. After 18 rounds of counting, returning officer Maheshwari Ravikumar declared DMK candidate Inbasekharan the winner. With the success at the Pennagaram bypolls, the DMK set a record of winning all by polls held since 2008.
