The General Secretary of Communist Party of India( Marxist), Prakash Karat, said on Monday that India and United Nations should make all efforts to ensure that Srilankan government and Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE) should come to an understanding to ensure safe passage for the civilian population from the war zone . Mr Karat said that over two lakh tamil speaking people, according to the estimates of  International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) who were trapped inside the war zone were cause of concern for Indians.
